SPONSOR A WOMAN
EXPERIENCING
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
JOIN OUR BOARD.
SO SHE CAN LEAVE.
Your way
of helping
We all know the tragic domestic violence stats too well. In Australia, one woman every week is killed1, and 1 in 4 have experienced violence2 by her intimate partner. HER Board is here to change those stats. They're our KPIs.
HER Board is a board for women and anyone identifying as a woman. Joining simply means sponsoring a woman experiencing domestic violence.
We called it a ‘board’ because domestic violence isn’t a quick fix. Women need a steady, stable organisation and ongoing support to leave domestic violence behind. Through your sponsorship, you’ll give her an ongoing funding stream for services like driving lessons, childcare so she can attend counselling, or a cyber safety audit of her home – basically whatever she needs to move on from domestic violence and lead a full, flourishing life.
How
you'll
help her
Join HER Board and your sponsorship money will go towards emotional and practical services like in these eight areas - services that fill the cracks and could prevent her getting into or facing an absolute crisis situation. The woman needing help can choose to use one, two or all of these services. Our philosophy is to give her the power to choose, and surround her with whatever help she needs.
Childcare
Like childcare costs, school fees, school uniforms or emergency relief.
Counselling
Like financial and family counselling, psychology services or emergency relief.

What if she no longer needs support?
At Luma, we have hundreds of women in our domestic violence programs. We will match you with the next woman in need.
A woman experiencing domestic violence loses her connections, voice, confidence and strength. Bit by bit, she loses her power. To move on, she needs to find that power again. HER Board is a group of women and allies giving her power back.
We know how to walk beside women on this journey because HER Board services are provided by Luma (formerly Womens Health and Family Services) – one of Australia’s largest not-for-profit organisations specialising in women’s health and wellbeing. We’ve been working with women experiencing domestic violence for decades.

Mission
Helping women experiencing domestic violence isn’t quick. It takes months, years. Temporary fixes won’t do. She can’t keep lurching from one crisis to the next.
Instead she needs constant, solid support. A united, solid group behind her. Dependable. Tangible. Practical. Accountable. A strong organisation. A collective force. A professional place, with a clear purpose, vision, focus and mandate.
She needs a board.
But a board with a difference.
A board made for women. A board where women like her are the only key stakeholders. A board that 100% believes in her. A board that’ll back her, walk beside her as long as she needs. A board with annual reporting to hold it accountable every year. A board with KPIs and targets, where success is measured by domestic violence numbers going down. A board with committed, passionate HER Board Members. A board that doesn’t treat her like a victim. A board that gives her agency and pride, that from day one makes her a HER Board Associate.
A board that puts her back in control.
A board founded, formed and meeting just for her.
She needs HER Board.
HER Board.
Giving her power back.
